Biography

Seytre of France patented, in 1842, a musical instrument to which he applied Jacquard's perforated cardboard mechanism. The author notes that no instrument of Seytre's invention survives and that it appears to have had no practical or commercial value, mentioning him only as a step in the progression from stiff perforated boards toward flexible perforated cardboard.
