Stradivarius
violin maker (master builder)
Biography
Stradivarius is named in a passage where Dolge compares violin and piano virtuosos: just as violin virtuosos play instruments made by several master builders -- Stradivarius, Amati, Guarnerius, Vuillaume, Bausch, and Gemünder -- without confining themselves to one maker, piano virtuosos are likewise said to need not restrict themselves to a single brand of piano. No further biographical detail is provided about Stradivarius in this text.
