Biography

Thomas W. Denning is credited with the painting on the one-hundred-thousandth piano built in the factories of Steinway & Sons, an instrument presented by the firm to President Roosevelt for the American people and displayed at the White House in Washington, D.C. The designs, models, and decorations for this piano were the combined work of noted sculptors and architects of America, with Denning specifically named as responsible for the painting; the piano's total cost was about twenty thousand dollars.
