Biography
W. C. Peters was an Englishman and a clarionetist who had served in a Canadian British military band before settling in Pittsburgh. About 1823 he opened the city's first regular piano and music store, according to a letter from the firm Henry Kleber & Brother quoted by Spillane. Peters sold the business to Smith & Mellor in 1830.
