Biography
W. Whitelock, described as a very old member of the Maryland Historical Society, personally knew the Loud brothers of Philadelphia. He furnished the author with a letter recounting the composition of the original Loud Brothers firm, the family's failed North Carolina gold-mine venture that led to the firm's collapse, and the subsequent careers of the four Loud brothers and their sister.
