William C. Comstock is named as one of the founding partners who joined with Samuel Merritt Comstock, George Cheney, and Charles H. Rose in July 1860 under the firm name Comstock-Cheney and Company, the Ivoryton, Connecticut concern that began by manufacturing piano ivory and later expanded into piano keys, actions, and hammers.
