Biography
William Knabe, III was born at Baltimore on March 23, 1871, and pursued the same educational course as his brother Ernest J. Knabe, Jr. Upon their father's death in March 1894 he was elected vice-president of William Knabe and Company, and later vice-president of the American Piano Company after its 1908 organization. The brothers withdrew from that company in 1909, and on March 23, 1911, organized the Knabe Brothers Company, with William serving as vice-president. He was credited with readily placing the firm's pianos with leading houses among piano merchants.
