Biography
William P. Collins was born at Oswego, New York, in 1877. He began his career working for a newspaper in his hometown before pursuing a commercial career, becoming thoroughly familiar with the piano business while traveling the United States as a representative of Kohler and Campbell of New York. In the spring of 1911 he co-founded Kindler and Collins with Oscar L. Kindler; the new firm was successful from the beginning and acquired the business and trademark of the old Needham Piano Company. Collins was noted as a business man of sterling qualities.
